All articles→Origami Holding started in Batumi in 2008 as an architecture practice called BWC, and grew development and hospitality out of it. That order is unusual and it shows: the drawing board came first, the buildings second, and running them third. Eighteen years on the group employs up to 600 people across three divisions, has designed more than 3,000,000 m² across Georgia, built more than 200,000 m² of it, and welcomed over a million guests into what it finished. The BWC name was retired in April 2026; the current flagship is Origami Island, a 37-storey, 135-metre tower on Ambassadori Island off Batumi's northern seafront.
The architecture arm is a real business with outside clients rather than an in-house drawing office: more than 3,000,000 m² designed across Georgia over eighteen years, spanning residential and aparthotel buildings, five-star hotels, administrative buildings, an airport, a sports complex and civic work, in Batumi, Tbilisi, Kobuleti, Kutaisi and the Goderdzi resort. Because the same group then develops and operates, a buyer is dealing with one company from the first drawing to the front desk. The company states that development is now the strategic line, with architecture and hospitality alongside it.
There is a finished building to walk through. White Sails, on Batumi's New Boulevard, is the group's delivered flagship: seven buildings on a roughly 30,000 m² site on the first coastal strip, 105,000 m² of residential area, 832 apartments handed over, blocks of 16, 18, 20 and 27 storeys, and an ibis Styles hotel by Accor operating inside the complex. Anagi was the main contractor and Basisbank the financing partner. Well Home, 22 storeys and 267 apartments from 32.7 to 149 m², is due in the first quarter of 2028. Origami Island, a USD 200 million tower of 37 storeys and 936 apartments, completes in 2030.
18 years, since 2008. More than 35 residential buildings, 15 administrative buildings and 18 hotels designed; over 200,000 m² built.
Origami Island is a USD 200 million development, sold on an instalment plan running to 48 months. On White Sails the group worked with Anagi as main contractor and Basisbank as financing partner, and Cushman & Wakefield | Veritas is engaged on Origami Island.
The group designs, builds and then operates the same buildings, which is why its towers stack by use rather than by floor count. Origami Island runs a podium of reception, retail, an outdoor pool, a conference hall and a restaurant opening onto the island promenade; hotel-format apartments above it; an entire wellness floor at eighteen; then the residences. Residents also get a biohacking area, a 5D cinema, a lobby bar, concierge, secure parking and a children's area. The hospitality arm has welcomed more than a million guests into the group's finished buildings.

A Georgian development, architecture and hospitality group founded in Batumi in 2008 under the name BWC, and rebranded to Origami in April 2026. Its founder and director is Astamur Chazmava. It employs up to 600 people across three divisions and has designed more than 3,000,000 m² across Georgia, built more than 200,000 m² and welcomed over a million guests into its finished buildings.
White Sails on Batumi's New Boulevard is the one to look at: seven buildings on the first coastal strip, 105,000 m² of residential area on about 30,000 m² of ground, 832 apartments handed over in blocks of 16 to 27 storeys, with an ibis Styles hotel by Accor operating inside the complex. Anagi was the main contractor. Well Home, 22 storeys and 267 apartments, follows in the first quarter of 2028.
A 37-storey, 135-metre tower on Ambassadori Island, the artificial island off Batumi's northern seafront, on 8,725.7 m² of freehold ground. It holds 936 apartments: 420 hotel-format on floors 4 to 17 and 516 residences on 19 to 37, four of them penthouses. It is a USD 200 million development completing in 2030, sold on instalments to 48 months.
The facade concept is by SHoP Architects of New York, and the tower sits inside a masterplan for Ambassadori Island drawn by Arup. The group's own architecture practice, which traded as BWC from 2008 until the 2026 rebrand, carries the project.
The entire level is given to wellness: a pool, a spa, a fitness centre and treatment suites. The podium below carries the reception and lobby, retail and commercial space, an outdoor pool, a conference hall and a restaurant opening onto the island promenade.
Hotel-format apartments are delivered fully fitted and furnished and can be enrolled with a single operator, which handles bookings, housekeeping, maintenance and guest services across every participating unit. Owners take 80% of net room revenue and keep a defined number of personal-use nights each year.
An 84-hectare artificial island off Batumi's northern seafront, planned as a district in its own right, with about half its area given to public recreation and a masterplan by Arup. Around the tower are a yacht club and marina, a retail and dining promenade and white-sand beaches.
